Sharing the Gift of Sewing

I can’t believe it’s only been two months since I first learned how to use the sewing machine.  My friends keep saying that they can’t believe how much I’ve gotten into this new hobby, so I needed to get them to understand!

Tonight I taught my friend, Steph, how to use the sewing machine by running her through the MAKE Workshop wallet/pencil case (the one we made in the Intro to Sewing Machine class).  Afterwards, my sister joined us to make the pincushion from the S.E.W. Sew Everything Workshop book.  Lauren just started a Quilting 101 class at Hartsdale Fabrics!  (Check out her blog, Patch & Purl).

I think the addiction has rubbed off!  Steph already ordered the S.E.W. book and is talking about buying her own sewing machine!

Steph’s pencil case and pincushion (made from an old postal-themed button down shirt… we have no idea who would actually wear this in public):
